Better Late
Than Never
It’s better to do something late than not to do it at all.
It is always better to start a good action late than to never do it at all. Delay is not ideal, but doing nothing is worse.
The Tree You Almost Never Planted
Imagine you planned to plant a small tree last month. You kept postponing it again and again. One day you realise months have passed. Should you still plant it now?
Planting It Late
You finally plant the sapling, even though you are late. It still takes root, grows leaves, and one day gives shade and fruits. You are glad you did not give up.
Never Planting It
You keep saying “I will do it later” and never actually plant it. Years pass. There is still no tree, no shade, and nothing grows from your plan.
The Big Idea 💡
Starting late is not perfect, but it is much better than never starting at all. Do not let guilt or fear stop you. Take the step now so that your future self can still enjoy the results.
Where “Better Late Than Never” Helps You
Catching Up on Studies
You realise exams are close and you have not studied enough. Instead of giving up, you start now, revise important chapters, and score better than if you had done nothing.
Saying Sorry After a Fight
You had an argument with a friend and waited many days to apologise. It feels awkward, but you still say “I am sorry.” The friendship has a chance to heal because you spoke up.
Starting a New Hobby
You think you are “too old” to learn music, coding, or drawing. You still join a class. Months later, you are much better than when you were only thinking about it.
Start Anyway Simulator
Watch the delay bar slowly fill up. Each click on “Start Now” is you finally taking action. Try to act before the bar reaches the end, showing that you never tried.
How to Live This Proverb
Do not waste more time feeling guilty. Use this proverb as a push to begin, even if you are starting late.
1. Admit You Are Late
Accept that you delayed something. Do not hide it or make excuses. Simply say, “I am late, but I will begin now.”
2. Take a Small First Step
Begin with something simple: read one chapter, send one message, do ten minutes of practice. Action, not perfection, matters now.
3. Keep Showing Up
Repeat your effort regularly. Over time, people remember that you tried and improved, not that you started late.
“The best time was earlier. The next best time is now.”
Do not wait for a “perfect moment.” Use this moment, even if it feels late, and turn it into your new beginning.
🐢 The Tortoise’s Birthday Card — কাছৰ জন্মদিনৰ কাৰ্ড
A short moral story for young readers / শিশুসকলৰ বাবে নীতিশিক্ষামূলক কাহিনী
🇬🇧 English Story
It was Mother Bear’s birthday. All the animals brought gifts in the morning.
Titu, the Tortoise, walked very slowly and couldn’t reach the party on time. He felt sad and thought, “The party is probably over. I should go back.”
But then he thought, “No, I made a beautiful card for her. Even if I am late, I should give it.”
When Titu finally arrived in the evening, Mother Bear was cleaning up. She saw Titu and smiled.
“I am sorry I am late,” Titu said.
Mother Bear hugged him and said, “Your card is the best gift! I am so happy you came, even if it is late.”
